Shrewsbury U8 Softball finished up the Spring 2024 season with events the first two weeks of June. The in-town playoffs were first, with the five teams competing for the championship. All four games were very competitive and the girls played well. On Tuesday the 4th, Archstone Financial won 6-5 over Season’s Corner Market. The remaining games were played on Saturday the 8th. Elements Massage won 8-5 over Archstone Financial, then Pearl’s Girls Fitness won 6-5 over Masis Staffing. The championship game had to be decided in extra innings, with Pearl’s Girls Fitness winning 11-9 over Elements Massage. Congratulations to Pearl’s Girls Fitness for their win and to all teams for a great tournament!

The following weekend, many of the girls chose to play in the U8 “Battle of the Boroughs” tournament hosted by Westborough Little League. Two Shrewsbury teams, Blue and White, were formed to play against the Seminoles, Medway Mustangs and Westborough Rangers. In the two morning seeding games, Team Blue went 1-1-0 and Team White 1-0-1. Both teams had defeated the Seminoles in the seed games, however the Seminoles turned the tables in the playoffs by beating Blue in the 1st round and White in the 2nd round. It was a great opportunity for the girls to experience a full day of tournament softball and some tough competition. They also got to enjoy spending time together between the games.

Meanwhile in Shrewsbury, a group of girls not playing in Westborough came out to Lower Dean for an exhibition game as part of Celebration Saturday. They got to play a little more softball and take part in the other festivities at Dean Park. All the U8 girls were given medals on Saturday afternoon after completing the spring season.

Thank you to all the players, coaches and parents for a great season! Enjoy the summer!
